Since 2012, I have been designing paper model kits for my business www.tinyireland.ie - please visit my website to see my large selection. I have also designed a lot of model kits on commissions for hotels, pubs, credit unions and private homes.
My process involves taking photographs of all aspects of buildings and streets, which I use to make ink and watercolour drawings of the facades, features and views. I then scan my artwork into the computer, process it in photoshop and finally assemble it into paper model kits in Adobe Illustrator.
My kits make great gifts to send to people - they are flat and light and fit into an A4 envelope.
This idea began way back in 2005, when my son received a model railway set for Christmas. I decided to make him a tiny Ballydehob (our local town) to go with his set. Years later I made more and more kits of Irish towns and buildings.
